We were eating watermelon the other night, and I casually asked my wife if people actually made watermelon jelly. She wasn’t sure ,but was determined to find out.

Before I knew it, I was standing in the kitchen slicing watermelon and getting things ready.

I can honestly say, that yes, people do make watermelon jelly, and it is quite delicious.

Why not both, sort of?

My wife made the most delicious Chicken and Dumplings tonight, but the camera battery was charging because I was busy making a time lapse video of the clouds floating by the house again today.

Anyway, because of my flub, you didn;t get a chance to see it. You’ll just have to settle for an oldie but a goodie from Chef John at Food Wishes. I haven’t made this one yet, but since I am posting it here, I will see it all this week and remember to make it on the weekend.

I don’t eat at the Olive Garden anymore. I worked for another chain owned by the same parent company and I am boycotting them, so I won’t eat at the Olive Garden for the same reason. However, I was looking for a good short rib recipe tonight and found this one interesting.

It sure looks like a lot of work to me, for a good short rib recipe.

A while back, Chef John showed us how to make sushi rice using, of all things, sushi rice. Last week he posted the video for making California rolls (for those of us who cannot stand raw fish). He said it was for the people with raw fish phobia. I am not afraid of raw fish, I just cannot stand it so I prefer California rolls.

Oh yeah, it doesn’t hurt that California rolls contain crab and avocado. Hehe. Imagine that, a recipe that includes two of my four favorite foods. (The others being steak and artichokes).

I really want to make these, so I will be buying the crab on payday. I will post pics when I make them.

Make sure you visit Chef John at Food Wishes and tell him how great he is. He singlehandedly makes losing weight impossible in this house.

I’ve been in a bit of a food funk lately. The kids have all taken turns being sick, and I haven’t had the time (or energy) to play in the kitchen, so it’s time for another recipe video from Chef John. He’s been real busy doing his about.com videos, but here’s an older one that I still plan on making soon.

Maybe I will make a video when I make this, just to show you how unprofessional I can be in the kitchen. ha!
