We Love Tarragon Around Here

While I have been working on this project, which is several days behind schedule, with a deadline looming tomorrow, I have been neglecting my cooking time in the kitchen. Thank goodness Chef John is here to help me plan an excellent weekend dinner.

Spinach Enchiladas

Looking for something different to make tonight? Why not try some spinach enchiladas?

Me? I would leave out the mushrooms. Mushrooms are evil.

Another Great Idea

While I’ve been busy working on my project (which is now one full day behind schedule), Marisa has been busy pickling asparagus.

I never would have thought to pickle asparagus. That makes two ideas I need to try thanks to Marisa, but not until my project is finished.

Soup & Sandwiches

No food tonight. Well, we had food tonight, but nothing I was going to blog about.

The kids are all stuffy, so we had grilled cheese sandwiches and soup for dinner.

I am curious, however, to see all the grilled cheese sandwiches over at Pithy and Cleaver.

A New Link For You

No photo or video to post tonight. I know, you’re disappointed.

I was called in for an interview with a company that I had not had an previous contact with and the prospect looks very good, so I had to drop everything to make it in time for the interview.

Of course, I wasn’t planning a huge post or anything anyway, so you shouldn’t be too disappointed.

As you know, we do a LOT of canning around here, and I thought I would pass a link your way. Marisa (from Fork You) has a new blog called Food In Jars. Well, it’s not new now, but I just found out about it today on Twitter, and I figure you might like to see some of her stuff. She has the good stuff.

If there is ever a FoodCon, with Marisa and Scott, Chef John, and a few others, I would have to make time to go to that one, as long as there were free food samples, of course.

The Secret To Crispy Hash Browns

I always wanted to know the secret to making crispy hash browns. Mine are always deliciously brown and crisp on the outside, but a bit mushy on the inside. They won’t be anymore, since I found this recipe hint at Simply Recipes. I’ll post photos when I make some this weekend.

Waiting To Roll, California Style

On Tuesday, Chef John at Food Wishes posted about the perfect Sushi rice. If you haven’t seen the video, you should watch it.

I can hardly wait for the California Rolls recipe. I haven’t had a good California roll in a long time, and for those of us who just can’t stomach “normal” sushi, that’s a bad thing.

I guess I should stock up on a few things, because I know when he posts that recipe, I’ll be in the kitchen soon afterward.

Last Minute Decisions

It’s always nice to sit back and relax after wading into the Christmas shopping frenzy just days before Christmas. We did good this year. We bought a lot of the presents early, so we only had a few that we had to actually “brave the crowds” to purchase.

One of the easiest decisions was what to buy for my brother-in-law. He loves everything French, so we always make sure that we purchase something “made in France” for him. This year, we bought him some wine. He travelled to France a couple years ago in college on an exchange program and fell in love with the place.

One site I discovered, Tastevine, really helps in the decision process. By checking a couple boxes, they will help you decide if you want red wine or white wine, and then help you make the purchase.

While it’s always easy to decide what we are getting him for Christmas, I still have trouble deciding between a good merlot or a refreshing chardonnay. Either way, I know he’s usually happy with our decision.

I’m Craving Cookies…

The weather is turning colder here in North Georgia, and when that happens I start craving hot chocolate, a warm blanket and delicious, warm Chocolate Chip Cookies.

I don’t like those cheap cookies you find at the grocery store or at Wal-Mart. I love all-natural, chocolatey, delicious cookies, like the ones from the San Francisco Cookie Company. They have a great selection of cookies to choose from and lots of gift ideas (hint, hint) when you’re searching for the perfect cookie gift for someone.

The cookies from the San Francisco Cookie Company are made with all-natural ingredients, including whole grains, healty oats, organic dairy and lots of delicious, creamy, chocolate. Orders can be gift-wrapped and customized ribbons can be added to match the occasion for your order. Sometimes I wonder if they have a “I just really, really, want some Chocolate Chip Cookies” ribbon.

Stop by the San Francisco Cookie Company and check out their selection. And remember, no matter the occasion, you can’t go wrong with cookies.
