A Hard Day’s Work
I know, still no food, but here’s the window seat I was talking about.

For dinner, we took the easy way out tonight. We had scrambled eggs, hash browns and some yummy biscuits the wife made.

Today’s Project Kept Me Busy.
I was busy most of the day doing some woodworking in the garage. Yes, I know this is a food blog, but when I am not eating, or playing with any of my techno gadgets, the place I like to be is in the garage making stuff.
Today’s project, was a new window seat for our oldest son’s room. It’s a nice 4ft long window seat, that sits about 18 inches off the ground, and will allow him to sit in the window and watch the world go by, or read a good book, or something like that.
Tomorrow’s project? Garlic mashed potatoes and something. Yeah. I haven’t decided what we’re eating tomorrow, but one thing is for sure. We are having garlic mashed potatoes because I am craving them.
Pictures of the window seat, coming soon.

Another Chicken Recipe
We are always looking for new chicken recipes. The kids love chicken and we only have so many ideas for cooking it each night.
Tonight, we have a new idea. Grilled Chicken Tostadas, from Simple Daily Recipes.
I might change some of the ingredients cuz I am not too hot on sour cream, but we shall see. When we make these, I will make sure to take photos.

I just realized that I never posted a link to Chef John’s site when he did the follow up for the crepe recipe. I have made crepes three times since that day, and I have yet to use them to make Chicken Cannelloni. Hmm. Okay. I never would have thought of that. I guess that’s what makes him Chef John, and I am just Slobokan.

Cheese Omelet With Some Extras
Tell me this doesn’t look good.

Fresh buttered homemade bread. A garden fresh tomato. A delicious cheddar cheese omelet. All of which is topped with wild blackberries fresh from the bakyard.
Delicious.

What do you get when you add potatoes, ham, cheese, onion, garlic and spinach to a lump of dough?

Well, duh, you get 92 perogies*, of course.

*There are not 92 perogies I this plate, I know that. No need to email me.

I’m still watching those blackberries. We’ve actually had about a dozen of them ripe enough to pick thus far and they are sweeter this year than last year.

It won’t be long now.

Today was a very good day.

My Father’s Day Feast
Wow, what a day.
I did absolutely nothing all day, until it was time to grill the nice huge porterhouse steak and the shrimp.
Two of the boys made me a couple of cooling scarfs so when I mow the lawn or work out in the yard I have something to keep myself cool with. Our middle son made me a wooden cross necklace with the word ‘Dad’ woodburnt into it. I love all my presents.
My best present however, was the excellent dinner that was prepared (even if I did get to do the grilling part). Pardon the picture below, as I had already started cutting up the porterhouse, because you know, I always share the filet portion with the wife.

I hope all the other fathers in the world had a great day like I had!

I Am Wiped Out
Sorry, no food news tonight.
We took the kids to the city pool today, our first trip this summer. I am more out of shape than I thought I was. I am exhausted.
After the pool, we came home and collapsed for a couple hours. We then made tracks to Peebles to pick something up for my father in law. Then we stopped and looked at some old cars at a car show they were having.

By the time we got home I was too tired to cook anything really exciting so I made breakfast burritos and called it a night. I wanted to make crepes, but I would have had to wait an hour for the batter, and that just wasn’t going to work tonight.
I’ll post the Father’s Day menu tomorrow. I hope to get some pics too.
